Beechworth Honey Pollinate Label Competition

While sorting my email inbox out, I realised that I had bookmarked a unicorn project but seemingly 'forgotten' about it, given that there has been so much going on here recently.

Checking over the deadline for the Beechworth Honey Pollinate Label Competition during lunch I realised the studio still had a couple of days left to get in and have some fun.

Overlooking the studio cottage garden while working today, I noticed that we have blue banded bees back due to the dapples of Spring that were starting to emerge in between the wintry days, so the inspiration was simple but naturally, one of 'spring' because they have now started to emerge from 'hibernation' again.

Reading the contents segment of the label we were briefed to complement, the description was thus:

And of course, trying to remain committed to the studio thematic collection, while watching the birds and bees outside.... (yes, quite literally!) it seems Spring Fever has hit full force this morning and so it became reflected in the design.

The colour of the sky was blended in with the colour of love (pink) which also contrasts nicely with the green foliage and lemon white myrtle blossoms which bees are especially attracted to. (At the moment I am having a 'thing' about the prettiness of myrtle, but not because of Harry Potter!)

The yellow honeycomb was added to the lower right of the label so as to balance out the centre logo and the bees to the upper left, adding a touch of masculine to the dominant feminine.

A nature based spring mood was trying to be encapsulated, sprinkles of glitter and gold dust are splashed throughout it, and colours which compliment any table, whether just as an easy breakfast addition, or display as part of an outdoor gathering buffet or simply as a decorative piece to spoil the person who loves adding honey to their beverages.

This 'unicorn project' was again, like others completed recently, very much a last moment decision of creative fun, and yet, one of the most fulfilling because it was simple, colourful and, dare I say, a touch of soulful joy to produce (who doesn't like the sunshine bursting through after weeks of bleak gloom?)

Enjoy the weather folks!

Much love!
