Bold colour, abstract has always been a natural thing for me for the past 6 years.

When covid lockdown happened that's what reintroduced me to art on a large scale (as a result of trauma recovery pathways and manage the mental health impact of that scary challenging time) and I guess it would be a natural transition to acrylic paint.

But now since covid days, we've moved on from Faber Castel connector pens on paper, to acrylic pens on canvas board and journalling, it really makes sense for that to start translating onto canvas.

What's now changing is that the fine artist for realism that I have always been since a small child has now taken a swing into an emerging love for impasto impressionism and seeing the natural flow that was coming out over the dapple greenery I'm building, has gotten me excited.

Just this layer of blocking in directly connected me to my natural love of William Morris, where he made natural colours and shapes and texture very becoming with abstract design.

Vincent Van Gogh and William Morris are my two primary art influences as spirit guides and I feel this combo is going to show up in a lot of my current and future work.

For a reintroduction into canvas projects after being centred on paper, digital and small scale canvas board, the canvas of this size has been daunting, and probably why it was sitting in the back of the studio cottage store room for the past year.

I still have no idea what this is going to end up looking like. Just going to do the auADHD thing and do layers at a time in a paced out small goal increments and we will see what emerges at the end I guess!

Personal Reflection:

This next layer was a scary moment.

That’s when I went and repeated the process of stage 2 (phase2) but added a very slight tint of white to the first green mix pot.

I also used a sponge to apply it instead of the brush this time. Not sure how it would turn out but it was a good foundation to add subtle minor detailing foliage detailing for the middle dimensional range between the shadows and the forefront luminary.
