Facebook Entry:

This next stage took a 30 minute lie in to work out what was to go next.

I really get quite impulsive at temporary 'sit back and reflect' stages of the creative process - which is unfortunately a make or break habit behaviour which needs more self discipline.

My impulsive nature wanted me to leap straight in to the finer detail embellishments but I am glad I did muse on this break overnight because I can see that today is about more tint layering and backdrop blocking in still... just have to be more  patient and listen to the intuition.

Glad I did over-ride the impulse control, it does add more to it lightening it up.

The Facebook entry summed it all at this point I think.

Personal Reflection:

The previous blotting in of background drops and foundations was the easy part.

Now the next level of focus and concentration needs to be applied and so this is where I get slightly nervous and more self conscious of not wanting to stuff up what is emerging as a good thing.

I think this is because there is a natural fear of trusting instinct and faith in skill experience but also a certain natural neurodivergent caution interjecting itself in there as well, just to make life interesting.

This time I put some neat Liquitex Hooker’s Green Hue (oh my gosh, that is hilarious, so open to interpretation purely dependant on mood at time that you would read the label, sigh!) with a daring amount of white tint to lift the colour up a couple of shades. Caution meant that it took a couple of additions to get it to the right level of abstract complimentary.

I am old school in mixing colours instead of just painting as is from tubes. So I did feel a little scientist-y while stirring my pot of magical paint; even gave it a couple of squirts of water to thin it a little because whilst I want some increased        accent, I didn't want it to be too bold, as the final layering of colours will be needing to be and we don’t want competition between background and foreground happening in the final stages.

Naturally because I have not done canvas painting in a long time I was nervous as.  Whilst this is emerging as an naturally balanced project, it is still largely experimental given that I have been out of the driving seat of canvas painting for many years. Yes. I think that may be a sigh of relief as I now let this dry.
