As a component for the Art Therapy section of the 2026 Thematic Collection, 'Country Twilight', this diamond art project captures the essence of the mystery and mood that is encapsulated by the Coonawarra district during its twilight hours.

Notably the colours in the canvas art recognises the myriad of colour and depth of intensity that typically befalls the region's surrounding landscape, and although the Tree Of Life is a metaphorical concept, it is a good representation of the resilience of the land and the spirit of the people who come together as the Penola Coonawarra community.

The metaphor of 'The Tree of Life' evokes a profound sense of interconnectedness and thriving growth, symbolising the intricate web of relationships among all living beings.

This metaphor suggests that life is not a linear journey but rather a complex tapestry, with each branch representing different paths, experiences, and choices that contribute to the whole. The roots, deeply embedded in the earth, signify our origins and the foundational aspects of existence, while the leaves and fruits embody the outcomes of our endeavours and the legacy we leave behind.

This diamond art imagery invites contemplation on the cyclical nature of life, the continuous process of learning and evolving, and the importance of nurturing our connections with others as we all flourish together in the vast ecosystem of life.

In a vibrant community such as Penola and The Coonawarra, the essence of artistic expression flourishes amidst the rich tapestry of natural diversity. This environment fosters collaboration and innovation, as individuals from various backgrounds come together, inspired by unique landscapes and ecosystems that surround them. The interplay between art and nature encourages the exploration of new ideas, where local flora and fauna serve as muses for artists, musicians and writers alike.

For this particular piece, although a pre-designed canvas project, it involved a complex colour allocation in its work, permitting this symbolic diamond painting piece, to become a quality Art Therapy facilitator.

Due to the complexity of the colour arrangement in the design, coupled with the moody pigmentation, not only was it an engaging piece to complete, but it allowed for immense reflection and musing into the symbiotic attachments with natural lifestyle and connectivity of nature, both native and agricultural, that Penola and the Coonawarra District offers.
